I can't say enough about this trip. I was going to wait to post until I put our movie together, but I just couldn't wait. We went down this time for 8 days, cooked 3 meals a day at the apartment rental and spent EVERY morning on the beach, went on afternoon trips through Tybee and Savannah and combed the beach in the evenings for hermit crabs, sea snails, cannonball jelly fish, horseshoe crabs and blue sand crabs. I can't say enough.
Soren was a natural on the waves and killer at building sand castles but more so canals. We ate out twice - once in Savannah at the Distillery where we enjoyed a flight of five local brews and our last evening at the Social on Tybee (of course, great seafood!).
Savannah shares the small-big city finesse with Cincinnati, but you feel the history the minute you pull up to the hanging Spanish moss and Southern drawls. And the sea air - OH! the sea air. Needless to say we will be job hunting until our family ends up in Savannah, just a stones throw from Tybee.
Tybee is one of the cleanest beaches on the Atlantic with nests of sea turtles and natural habitat. The community prides itself on it's affordability, cleanliness and community. This is a family's beach. Every morning we hit the waves only yards from Dolphins - seriously, breathtaking. I highly recommend a week (or two) at Tybee and if you know of any job openings - let us know! We miss you already Tybee!
