'A portrait a week of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014'

And we are on to another year of portraits!  This year I want to really start digging into photoshop layers and using my camera in manual mode.  I suspect we will have MANY Magna-tile photos to come, these were an ultimate gift this year!  I must admit - they are pretty sweet!

This 52 portrait idea was inspired by many mom-bloggers I follow.  I will hopefully be incorporating a tag into my side bar soon so you can get to them easily.  I am hoping to use this one from a mom's beautiful blog (thank you practicing simplicity for the beautiful tag!!) - her photos are stunning!  Cheers to 2014!

Shooting Macro

Time to experiment!  After thoroughly dipping my fingers into photoshop, I've decided to experiment a bit more with just the camera (maybe one of these days I will start shooting manual.  This momma started and her photos are stunning!)

To start, I purchased this macro-wide angle lens adapter (for 50 bucks!) a few months back.  It's been super fun to use to create fish eye effects and great depth of field.  But along with it, came the macro adapter.  I decided to be patient and give it a shot (pardon the pun!).

I had about a dozen photos pegged for this week's portrait (considering we only have 4 weeks left - yikes!), but this one today stole my heart.  There was something new yet so familiar about picking out the Christmas tree today.  Watching him look in wonder and run through the rows of trees with his Pappa made me melt, I am truly grateful.  Cheers - to the Holidays!
