Yeatman's Cove Sprayground

Don't get me wrong - I love our Coney passes.  No really - LOVE them.  There is nothing like being able to take a dip in the pool for just a couple hours at a time - enough to cool off, and enough to wear out our wee one.

But spraygrounds are a completely different beast.   Our plans today were fouled since Washington Park is in the midst of mid-season maintenance, but fear not! Yeatman's Cove Sprayground was alive and kickin'.

We'd never been before, but Soren was totally up for the adventure.  We had a blast and recommend this spot to cool down.  It's tricky to find, nestled between the Purple People and Taylor-Southgate bridges and just behind 1 Lytle Place (Condos, I believe) - but worth tracking down.  Small, simple and a lot of fun.

Soren's BFF and her new baby brother and momma joined us.  These two were ridiculous amounts of adorable, I couldn't STAND it.  They are always like this.  Holding hands through the center sprinklers, giving hugs after falls and rooting one another on.  It's too cute!

This is one of my favorites!  Soren LOVES playing any sport that incorporates a spherical object.  Often times you will here him rattling off all the different kinds of balls out there.  'There's a soccer ball, basket ball, baseball.  There's the football, golf ball...' and on he goes.

Around Here

Literally!

Soren and I hung out in our backyard last week and it was SO beautiful I had to snag a few shots.

We have totally lucked out with this apartment.  We have amazing landlords, a bird sanctuary and 8 acres of forest in the back, a whole family of deer outside our bedroom windows, a rope tree swing - it's perfect.  We love it here, it was just what our family needed.

Plus! We are 10 minutes from downtown and work with a safe bike route - can't wait to get pedaling.

Our home is finally a sanctuary.  A calm place from the storm of work and chores.  We are in the throws of opera season, the station just started a new show Rick is working on, his project list is growing, and I have some really fun projects coming up in the fall... and our apartment, our home - is perfect for coming home, filling the mini pool and relaxing with our little man.

Our backyard is not only calm - but a great place for sensory play.  We search and collect rocks, leaves and examine bugs.

what are some of your favorite ways to relax?  where or how have you created your sanctuary?
